HDR Tools by forfie HDR Tools by forfie
**Updated 12/03/10

The preview says it all.

This action is built to remove the digital grey (lack of contrast or true black) that comes with HDR photography (or normal images could use this as well as a one click fix). When combining many photos to extend the dynamic range, the contrast curve can become very flat and even reverse. Modern programs are getting much better at handling this problem but I still will apply at least one of these actions to my final work before submitting to my clients.

New set has 4 actions, HDR Fix light, normal, heavy and Clicker.

To use Clicker just keep clicking play until you get the desired level of the effect from the action. I recommended using the HDR Fix Light action as the last step after using click pop.

The more grey (lack of contrast or true black) the photo has the heavier action you should employ.

The program I recommend for creating HDR's:

(download link on the right >>> )

How to install:
  1. Method 1: Browse to your Photoshop folder, enter the Presets folder and then the Actions folder. Once you are in the Actions folder, copy paste the .ATN file there (or you can drag and drop the .ATN file).
  2. Method 2: In Photoshop, go to the Window menu and open the Actions panel. Click the flyout menu on the upper right corner of the Actions panel and select Load Actions … Now navigate to the Action(s) file you want to load, select it and click Load.

P.S. Don't for forget the Llama!

You have to enable the Actions menu. Go to Window > Actions
It looks like a play button and appears when you enable it. To play an action you press the start button in the bottom of the actions window. I hope that was helpful ;) It's pretty much the same as he explained in the description.

I appreciate whats going on here but anything more than the light hdr makes it harsh and artificial. The original may not actually be the "original" essence of the landscape you captured but there is still an authenticity to the experience and tool you are using. Just like using different media to create the look. I haven't seen the rest of your gallery, I just stumbled upon this and wanted to give my 2 cents on this.

EDIT: Just saw this was uploaded in '07. Good job mate.

Nah, you can use the "Levels" feature. It has been forever since I used it, the the description is pretty good at explaining it.

thats great, the only thing I can't stand though is that you didnt align the text " original" to the left, like you did with the other text. Sorry, it really is nitpicking.

Second thought that image is locked away in my safe deposit box archive, might need to pick a new photo for the example... but which one...
